i'm webdesigner and, more that, web programmer. i've been in business while, far staying far away cms.
lately i'm thinking of making things little bit easier using one. twothat came mind
- drupal
- wordpress
so far looks simple, rather static webpage it's easiest use wordpress. i'm not sure of how customizable wp when comes templates , plugins galleries (i use galleria), online shops, maybe forums etc., , other compare in aspects. heard drupal demands coding background, isn't problem rather plus.
the important part though still is: if can code myself, clients can't. far provide them admin area text editor, upload section etc. how 'idiotproof' can 2 client?
thanks info & opinions :)
i'm sure come along , close question unconstructive soliciting debate, in meantime, here 2 cents worth. quite easy think along lines of: client needs update basic site (probably wordpress - pretty foolproof) if... want gallery , if want shopping cart , if... want stop alien invasion. point features can added later - may save time , clients money , come exact brief them , work it. don't go heavyweight solution based on ifs.
all solutions have mentioned can acheive want, choose 1 comfortable working , useful other clients (a professional has living make - don't reinvent wheel , learn whole new cms each project).
