textbox - how to move focus from html popup to textfield in flex parent -

i have flex component embedded in html page. flex component has text box. timer runs in flex makes external interface call after every 10 mins. in turn open popup using html (window.open). problem when typing in text box , popup displayed, lose focus text box. possible popup displayed , li able continue typing without break or having click on text box again regaining focus.
