we have debian 6 email server deployed postfix , dovecot , roundcube . users stored virtual users in mysql database. have migrate debian 7. wondering if possible setup fresh debian 7 postfix config, dovecot , roundcube , migrate mysql users old system , there mail directory? in advance
the short answer yes, difficult people give specific instructions without knowing how configured services work when installed (e.g. did work tutorial, keep notes etc?)
this (rather old) guide migrating user accounts may (refer comments).
i have thought considerably easier first attempt upgrade existing server providing have (a) backed (b) don't mind downtime during upgrade.
note: i've seen one tutorial mention there problem upgrading dovecot , workaround uninstall (fully purge) it, upgrade debian reinstall again.
